Bring It On: The Musical at California Center for the Arts

Bring It On: The Musical

California Center for the Arts
340 N. Broadway Blvd. Escondido

Created by a dream team of musical-theater superstars -- including an original story by Tony winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), music and lyrics by Tony-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), music by Pulitzer and Tony-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyrics by Broadway lyricist Amanda Green (High Fidelity) -- Bring It On: The Musical was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Choreography. Now this Center Stage production pops up at the California Center for the Arts, featuring a talented youth cast. Showcasing the intense rivalries and amazing athletics of the world of competitive cheerleading, this original story (inspired by the movie of the same name) centers on a perky high school girl named Campbell, a cheerleading captain who's forced to move to a new school. While struggling to define herself in an unfamiliar crowd of kids that look and act nothing like her, Campbell teams up with the hip-hop crew and starts a completely original cheer squad.
